At Given to Fly, we recognize that parenting is one of life's most meaningful and challenging roles. Whether you're navigating behavioural concerns, emotional struggles, family transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the demands of parenting, you don't have to do it alone. Together, we create a supportive space to strengthen your confidence, deepen your connection with your child, and develop strategies that align with your family's values.

“I feel like I'm failing as a parent.”

Many parents carry immense pressure to get everything right. When challenges arise, it's easy to blame yourself or wonder whether you're doing enough. Parenting support offers a space to explore these concerns with compassion and develop confidence in your own parenting strengths.

“Why does everything seem more difficult for me than for other parents?”

It's easy to compare yourself to other parents and wonder why they seem to have it all together while you're struggling to keep up. What we often don't see are the challenges, doubts, and stressors that other families are carrying behind closed doors. Every child is different, every family has unique circumstances, and factors such as temperament, developmental needs, mental health, support systems, and life stress can significantly impact the parenting experience. Feeling overwhelmed does not mean you are failing—it often means you are carrying a lot.

“I don't recognize myself anymore.”

Parenting can bring immense joy, but it can also leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain. Many parents struggle to balance caregiving with their own needs, relationships, and sense of identity. Therapy provides a space to care for yourself while caring for your family.

“Parenting is not about perfection. It is about connection.” - Dr. Mary O'Kane

Common Reasons Parents Seek Support

Behavioural Challenges

Children communicate through behaviour. Tantrums, defiance, aggression, emotional outbursts, or withdrawal often signal underlying needs, emotions, or developmental challenges that require understanding rather than punishment alone.

Anxiety and Emotional Regulation

Many children struggle with worries, fears, big emotions, and difficulty managing stress. Parenting support can help you understand your child's emotional world and respond in ways that build resilience and confidence.

Parenting Through Separation or Divorce

Family transitions can be difficult for both children and parents. Support can help you navigate co-parenting challenges, communication concerns, and your child's emotional adjustment.

Neurodiversity and Special Needs Parenting

Parenting a child with ADHD, autism, learning differences, or other unique needs can bring additional joys and challenges. Therapy offers a space to strengthen understanding, reduce stress, and build effective supports.

Parent-Child Conflict

Frequent power struggles and conflict can leave both parents and children feeling frustrated and disconnected. Together, we explore patterns that contribute to conflict and develop healthier ways of relating.

Parenting Teens

Adolescence brings rapid emotional, social, and developmental changes. Many parents find themselves navigating issues related to independence, boundaries, communication, technology, identity, and mental health concerns.

Family Stress and Life Transitions

Changes such as moving, loss, illness, blended families, financial stress, or other life events can affect the entire family system. Support can help families adapt while maintaining connection and stability.

Parental Burnout

Parenting can be emotionally, physically, and mentally demanding. When stress becomes chronic, parents may experience exhaustion, irritability, guilt, and a sense of being overwhelmed. Therapy can help restore balance and support wellbeing.
